I recently bought myself a Fitbit Edge and I'm getting to know it better. I've found the included watch faces have some quirks, so I made this quick table to compare the options and customizability.
I generally like data-heavy layouts since I like to have at least the date and weather displayed at all times, so this is an easy way for me to check which faces will meet my needs.
About the Faces
The Fitbit Edge comes preloaded with 13 faces at launch. Like with previous Fitbits, there is no support for third party face installation. What you see is what you get, unless Google decides to release additional faces in a software update. They've done this in the past with the Charge 6 and three times for the Charge 5.
On the Fitbit Edge, you choose which faces are available on the tracker from the Google Health app on your phone. Up to 6 can be added at a time, which you can then choose from on the phone or directly on the watch.
Customization
Almost all of the available faces have multiple customization options for the color, and many support customizing which complications or additional data is shown on the screen. Unlike the Pixel watch, complications can not be left blank and the same data can not be used for multiple complications on the same face.
All customization happens on your phone in the Google Health app.
Available Faces
As of now, these are the watch faces available on the Fitbit Edge. I've also listed how many permanent and customizable complications each one has.
Permanent complications are any additional data (besides the primary clock) that the watch face shows and you can not edit in any way.
Customizable complications can be set to any of the available metrics and shortcuts such as the weather, date, heart rate, number of steps, etc.
Quirks and Surprises
The biggest surprise for me was the Bold Type watch face. It's the only watch face that has complications available, but none of them are customizable. It's fine, but having a face like this on a fitness tracker without the option to show step count seems like a weird choice.
I was also surprised at the lack of consistency when it comes to which complications are actionable, or can be clicked on to show more information. Again, the bold type surprised me, as the huge temperature readout can not be tapped to bring you to the weather app, surprisingly enough.
Finally. I think I expected the basketball on the Stephen Curry face to be a decorative element, but it's actually a dedicated and permanent button to start tracking a basketball workout. I guess without this there wouldn't be anything 'Stephen Curry' about the face, but since I like the overall design and don't play any basketball, it would be nice if this could be customized to something I would actually use.
